WASTE advisers on urban environment and development, seeks to strengthen its solid waste and recycling activities. We have an immediate opening for a full-time
Solid Waste/Recycling Adviser
Responsibilities:
- Formulating, developing and managing projects and programmes
- Participating in programmes and projects, in a variety of possible roles
- General acquisition responsibility in the own, and related WASTE fields with a special focus on potential elements of integration in solid waste
- Developing and implementing practical approaches to improving urban environmental management, with a focus on low and middle income countries, working them out into concrete project / programme ideas, and acquiring projects and programmes to test them
- Providing technical assistance to partners
- Working together with local partners on action research, research and development, planning, governance, public-private partnerships, and related activities
- Networking and interfacing with other organizations, bilateral and multi-lateral agencies, donors, civil society, and the public and private sectors in Europe, low and middle income and transitional countries
- Initiating and writing regular WASTE publications
- Executing field trainings in the thematic field
- Coaching and training colleagues in the thematic field
Requirements and competences:
- Professional qualifications at masters or comparable level in the thematic or related field(s)
- Extensive professional experience of at least 7 years in the field, preferably with substantial hands-on experience in low and middle income countries
- Proven project skills
- Self starter, capable of working unsupervised, yet able to creatively interact in a flat and professional organization, being a source of inspiration to (junior) colleagues
- Good computer skills, proven working experience with Internet applications, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Open Source
- Professional level speaking, reading, and writing skills in English and at least two other languages relevant for field work
- Speaking and reading ability in Dutch is highly desirable
- Willing to travel and work abroad for up to ten weeks per year, for periods of up to 2 weeks
WASTE prefers to hire a staff member, however, other types of outsourcing may also be an option. Renumeration (max. EUR 3.400,00) will be in accordance with relevant experience.
