About the organisation
ANP (www.anp.com.ph) is a locally owned Business Service Organization providing training and marketing services to its 86 member producers. ANP (managed by a board of 5 members and 13 employees) functions as a binding force, for it promotes cooperation among producers and the business sectors in the Philippines and in the global market. They promote the culture of productivity and technological upgrading among the manufacturing sector of Negros. ANP uses effective marketing and quality control to shape and create an image of Negros-made products, next to training facilities. Product lines are furniture, gifts & house wares, fashion and food. ANP houses a real life showroom in Bacolod City, where many products are displayed and sold. ANP has generated more than 12,000 jobs since its formation in 1988. In 2007 ANP achieved a net profit of € 13.000. As of June 2008, a net loss of € 4.000 was the reality. One of the reasons was a lack of operational excellence and missing sales opportunities.
Since the partnership between ANP and SharePeople (januray 2009), sales have risen slightly with 3%, and net profit has grown significantly: improved Showroom sales, less costs on Trade Fairs and management. Due to fast turnover of items, the store became more relevant to the customers.
For 2010, ANP is still eager to increase sales and lessen costs, in order to become more sustainable and involve more producers.
Social impact:
- local employment and/or income generation
- transfer of knowledge and skills
What will you work on
Judith Lamers, the operational expert who joined ANP for the first Expert Programme in January and February 2009, set the pace for improving the operational guidelines within ANP. For more information, see www.sharepeople.nl/results. Advice given was worked with and implemented, but ANP is not there yet: sustainable growth in quality management & sales. Producers are to deliver high quality products in a reliable way and items need to have a short shelf life --> procedures involved need to be clearly implemented.
They ask another operational expert, with a commercial approach, to assist in continuing the work. The focus will be on the following issues at hand:
- inventory management
- ordering and re-ordering procedures
- other Showroom operational issues
ANP is also hoping the consultant can assist with the operational issues on the Best of Negros Island, an e-commerce marketing facility which will be extending to their members: www.bestofnegrosisland.com.
Therefore, an expert on operational and/or quality management is requested to help implement improvements on the current operational management system. This has to enable ANP to expand and create more opportunities for the member producers and communities.
What do we expect from you
You are an expert in operations management or quality management, combined with a commercial drive. You have experience in a production environment (FMCG) and know how to implement improvements. You are flexible, driven, patient and eager to learn.
Also, to participate in an Expert Programme you need to have:
- at least five years of relevant working experience
- at least finished an HBO-education or have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Timeframe: Q1 2010, 3-6 weeks
Costs
You will not receive a salary, but the local organisation arranges and pays for the accommodation and meals during the programme. International travelling expenses are to be paid by the participant. Depending on the level of preparation and coaching desired or necessary, SharePeople charges a variable fee (ask for the terms and conditions).
