IDH is looking for a Manager Operations to develop and lead the organisation’s processes and systems.
We live in exciting times. The world is changing. Front running multinationals and medium-size companies are making sustainability their core business. IDH, The Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative (see also www.duurzamehandel.com), helps to build ambitious coalitions and high-impact programmes of companies, governments and civil society organisations. The main objective is to make that change really happen, thus serve the public cause of economic development in developing countries and limit the ecological footprint of international trade. Endorsed by the Dutch government, we accelerate sustainable trade by catalyzing, financing, up-scaling and monitoring sustainable chain development programmes.
To play an active role and use the momentum IDH will expand significantly in the coming year. Existing programmes will be scaled up and new sector programmes will be launched.
To allow for programme expansion and portfolio development, the IDH organisation will grow from its present 10 staff members to 25 by the end of next year. IDH is a young and growing organization, moving from its pioneering phase to a more consolidating, but still dynamic, phase. The staff consists of professionals (mainly with a master degree back ground) with a result-oriented focus. In order to set up and streamline the internal organisation, IDH is recruiting an enthusiastic head of operations.
The Manager Operations makes the organisation run smoothly. He/she is a result oriented team player, who can think through the processes and has a practical hands-on mentality. He or she understands what is needed to support dynamic business development in a multi-stakeholder donor environment. You are capable of translating the needs of the programme development teams into practical processes and systems, and you understand the balance between the need for flexibility and standardization .
The Manager Operationsj is furthermore responsible for the (financial) reporting, monitoring and evaluating the (impact of) funding provided to the implementing parties of the different IDH programmes. Last but not least you are responsible for HR, ensuring that the IDH staff is well-served and operates as a team. It requires solid experience in process management, PME, reporting, HRM and finance.
The Manager Operations reports to the general director.
Responsibilities
- Develop, monitor and implement IDH processes, systems and procedures for project- and portfolio management, PME and reporting
- Reporting (in collaboration with the general director) to the IDH board and Ministeries
- HR-management
- Develop Memorandi of Understanding / contracts with other funders /public investors
- Fundraising
- Finance, in close collaboration with the controller
- General management (housing, IT, etc)
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience in an international, intercultural multi-stakeholder context
- Excellent knowledge with quality systems (ISO, INK) and with project monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment, process management and facility management
- HR/teambuilding experience
- University degree
- Experience in collaborating with (senior) professionals
- Preferably experience in fundraising activities
- Preferably experience in international agro-commodity chains and/or in developing countries
Knowledge and skills
- Strong process management skills, logical thinker
- Excellent communication skills with heterogeneous internal and external stakeholders
- Practical, hands-on mentality
- Ability to lead and motivate supporting staff
- Affinity with sustainability
- Fluent in English and Dutch, preferably in a third language
